The BRIAN GLASSENBERG FOOD PANTRYWhen you make a donation to the tzedakah box in the temple lobby, that money goes to the Brian Glassenberg Food Pantry. The Brian Glassenberg Food Pantry serves approximately 20 families on a regular basis every month. Some of them are families from our synagogue, many of them come from the outside community. They live in Chicago and in the neighboring communities. Some of them drive a car to get here and rely on the pantry at the end of the month when their food stamps run out. Some have to take public transportation, so they can only take home a limited amount at a time. We serve people who are, black, white, Hispanic, male, female, single, young, old, Jewish, Protestant, Catholic. The pantry is named in honor of Brian Glassenberg, who was a very generous supporter of the Bene Shalom Food Pantry. He was an active member of the synagogue, who loved to help others. At the Brian Glassenberg Food Pantry, we are always grateful for your financial gifts, or your donation of perishable or non-perishable food items. If you give a gift of food, please make sure that it is not out of date. Thank you. Below is a partial list of some of the items we can always use in the pantry: CONG.
